
Mazda has officially become the world’s first automaker to recycle scrapped bumpers from end-of-life vehicles into raw material for new vehicle bumpers. TX Mazda said this new process is helping to create bumpers for the Mazda Biante minivan, which is sold in Japan.
By finding a way to recycle old bumpers into material for new vehicle bumpers, Mazda says it will dramatically improve the recycling ratio (MRR) of Mazda vehicles and will also contribute to a more effective use of resources. [click to continue…]

Mazda has been touting its all-new line of SKYACTIV gasoline and diesel engines at Phoenix Mazda, saying they will offer efficiency without the added expense associated with hybrid technology. In India, consumers are certainly demanding efficiency, but hybrids have yet to make a dent in overall sales.

Houston Mazda Dealers tell us that automakers are electrifying more of their vehicles to meet increasingly stringent efficiency standards and satisfy consumer demand. However, Maryland Mazda said hybrids and electric vehicles still account for a miniscule proportion of overall auto sales. That will eventually change, though, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Mazda’s all-new compact crossover gets its official debut in Frankfurt, Germany this week. The new generation crossover will boast the automaker’s new SKYACTIV powertrain technology, which promising sportiness and fuel-efficiency.

Mazda is already preparing to bring its innovative SKYACTIV powertrain technologies to its U.S. lineup beginning this year. And, the automaker’s award-winning i-Stop – the Japanese automaker’s stop-start system – will also be arriving Stateside at Mazda Dealers AZ and other dealers nationwide to boost fuel economy even more.
According to Charlotte Mazda Dealers, i-Stop will yield five to eight percent fuel economy gains on Japan’s test cycle. Although it will likely arrive in the automaker’s U.S. lineup, reports suggest it won’t be anytime soon. Japanese firm Nichicon has developed and will soon launch what is believed to be the world’s smallest quick-charge stations for plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.
Using “advanced module technology” to shrink down to a smaller footprint than conventional quick-charge stations, Nichicon says its new NGQ-A202 and NGQ-A302 chargers are 50-percent smaller than typical Level 3 charging units.
While they may be small in size, these chargers are also smaller on power. According to Maryland Mazda, Output capacities have been rated at 20 kW (NQC-A202) or 30 kW (NQC-A302). Nevertheless, a Nissan Leaf EV could be fully charged in about an hour using these chargers. [click to continue…]

In a recent survey of “Eco Cars” in Japan, Mazda’s recently updated Demio (aka Mazda2) came out on top. The Demio was deemed more eco-friendly than even the Toyota Prius thanks to its ultra fuel-efficient 1.3-liter SKYACTIV gasoline engine.
The SC-Abeam Consulting survey asked 500 respondents to choose from a pool of 24 hybrid and fuel-efficient gasoline engine cars. No EVs were included in the survey pool. The Demio bested the Prius and the Daihatsu e:S kei car as the most eco-friendly of the bunch. [click to continue…]
