Mazda2 was chosen as the World Car of the Year during the recent New York Auto Show. This is interesting considering that Mazda does not sell the 2 currently in the United States. Thus, the award certainly helped in drawing interest from American consumers who visited the show.
The Mazda 2 is a two door compact that currently is sold in Europe, Japan, and elsewhere. In China, the Mazda 2 will soon be sold in a four door variation. Mazda Service Seaside says the Mazda2 is all about fun and efficiency, which has fueled its popularity abroad and will potentially help make it successful in North America as well.
Mazda’s parent company, Ford Motor Co., will eventually be selling a variation of the Mazda 2 to U.S. customers. The next Ford Fiesta is based on the same platform that the Mazda2 currently resides on says Saint Louis Mazda parts retailers. The Ford-badged Mazda sub-compact is expected to be in available at Ford dealers in 2010.
The award for Mazda’s 2 was decided by a total of 47 judges from 24 countries. Mazda was decided as the winner based on a number of criteria including styling, safety, and overall quality. Pasadena TX Mazda anticipate that the vehicle will be a hit for consumers, as the sales of compacts are on the rise.
