Mazda is planning the release of an all-new entry level roadster that will be slotted just below the MX-5 in its lineup. Power will come from several compact, fuel efficient engines that promise to make this car not only fun, but also economical. The new Mazda roadster is said to reach production in 2012.
In a time when car buyers are steering clear of frivolous purchases, it may seem to add a roadster to the lineup. Not only does Mazda have the MX-5, but the lineup also has the RX-8 sports car, both of which still garner plenty of attention at Calgary Auto Loans, a leading Mazda dealer. But with the new convertibles from Nissan, Infiniti, and Lexus arriving in showrooms, perhaps Mazda realizes that consumers still want fun vehicles, as long as they promise to keep them satisfied at the pump.
Reportedly, the new Mazda roadster has already claimed the MX-2 name and will feature styling based on the Furai concept car, which had been unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show last year. With its super aggressive and futuristic design, Mazda Service Hartford CT suggests the upcoming MX-2 may will no doubt look the part of a high performance roadster, even if it remains powered by low-output engines.
Of course it’s too early to confirm details, but expect engines that will be 1.6-liters or smaller. There may also be several choices for buyers predicts Saint Louis Used Mazda, including naturally aspirated versions as well as some equipped with turbochargers. With a low overall weight, the MX-2 may offer more performance than the engine size alludes to.
