Following the debut of Ford’s all-new Range pickup, Mazda unveiled its own all-new pickup at the Australian International Motor Show this week. The Mazda BT-50 features the same bold Nagare design language commonly found on other models in the lineup. As a result, many details are similar to the CX-9 crossover.
According to The Liberty Mazda Service, Mazda described the overall look as a “sophisticated beast.” No word yet on what’s powering this beast. There’s a good chance that it features a similar unit from Ford, possibly a base 2.2-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 276 pound-feet of torque along with a more powerful diesel or gasoline unit as an option.
While this handsome truck will surely find some happy customers around the world, it’s unlike to find any in the U.S. Like the new Ranger, the Mazda BT-50 will most likely not be sold in North America.
