The compact car that’s big on fun—the Mazda3—gets even better for the 2011 model year, with a number of upgrades and new features that make this Mazda a better choice then ever for young drivers—or just those who are young at heart.

The Mazda3 four- and five-door models were both redesigned for 2010, so they already offered a highly competitive level of content going into 2011. Depending on trim level, this includes such up-level features as self-leveling Bi-Xenon headlights, an adaptive front-lighting system, keyless entry with push-button start, a compact nav system, hands-free Bluetooth/audio functionality, heated front seats and interactive interior lighting.

And now, for the 2011 Mazda3, further enhancements include:

  • Standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control (TCS) on all models.
  • Power door locks with auto-lock function on i SV and i Sport models.
  • Rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, Bi-Xenon auto-leveling headlights, Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) and rear LED tail lamps available on s Sport models with an automatic transmission.
  • Standard 265-Watt Bose Centerpoint 10-speaker surround sound audio system with Audiopilot, in-dash six-disc/MP3 compatible CD changer and a moonroof with one-touch open for s Grand Touring models.
  • Standard coolant “low temperature” warning light (all models).

The Mazda3 also will continue to be available with a choice of two responsive four-cylinder powerplants: The standard 2.0-liter mill makes 148 hp and can attain an EPA line of 25 mpg city/33 mpg highway/28 mpg combined, while moving up to the bigger 2.5-liter engine offers drivers the benefits of dual-overhead cams and 16 valves, along with 167 horses.

Mazda has turned up the temperature on its hot hatch, too. The 2011 Mazdaspeed3 still packs a potent 263-hp, direct-injection/spark-ignition I4 that propels it to a top speed of 155 mph, but now it offers a reconfigured Technology Package to better meet driver demands. Now on the menu are rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, Bi-Xenon auto-leveling headlights, Mazda’s adaptive front-lighting system and eye-catching rear LED tail lamps.

With its unique combination of versatility, value and velocity, it’s no wonder the Mazda3 is the No. 1-selling Mazda in the world.
