2010 Mazdaspeed3 and 2010 VW GTI Go Head to Head

by Mazda in the News on February 5, 2010

We recently published a whimsical video from the folks at Kelley Blue Book that compared the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 and the Porsche Panamera. While there may be a few minor similarities between the cars, both of these vehicles, needless to say, are competing for very different customers at very different ends of the market.

For those in the market for a budget sports car there currently plenty of options that deliver speed, functionality, and a competitive price. Two of the most popular budget sports cars are the Mazdaspeed3 and Volkswagen GTI, both of which have recently been updated for the 2010 model year.

As these two performance hatchbacks are competing for the same buyer, it was only natural that Cars.com recently performed a comparison test to see which car is the better daily driver.

Spoiler Alert: We believe the Mazdaspeed3 to be the best value for its eye-catching styling and incredible performance, but Cars.com preferred the GTI as a daily driver, largely due to its more upscale interior accommodations. For around $23K, there are few sporty options available with 263 horsepower, and the Mazdaspeed3 can also be fully loaded with all the goodies for plenty less than its German rival, making it our pick as the better daily driver.
